Homemade carnitas. The meat wasn’t as highly seasoned as expected, but better too little seasoning than too much.

There’s no such thing as too much seasoning. Unless you’re seasoning with those BS seasoning salts.

I usually make my own mixes with various spices, and when it comes to carnitas I normally dump in a lot of onion, garlic, cumin and cayenne pepper. I added lots, but not enough, or maybe some of these things are getting old and losing their potency.

That looks wonderful.

It’s one of my favorites and incredibly easy to prepare. Unbroiled, it can also be used for pulled pork sandwiches, which is what I made last week. A slow cooker is a wonderful thing.

Agreed. Sometimes we make a pot roast or pulled pork. The problem is my girls get tired of eating it after one round of leftovers. I work to make different dishes out of the remaining meat to keep them interested.

My solution?
Another device no kitchen should be without. I keep finding them at the Goodwill Outlet and give them to friends and family. Most have worked well, but I have gotten a few with bad sealing stri ps; m y latest one looks pretty good but I haven't tested it yet . My mother was hesitant to take one at first but now can’t do without it, and tells me that it has saved them a ton by buying more items in bulk.

Good idea.

I love mine. Lately it’s not working too well, and I suspect the sealing strip is the issue. I hadn’t thought of checking goodwill for a replacement; thanks for the thought.
